TRANSPORTATION DEMAND MANAGEMENT (TDM) PLANNER
The Rogue Valley Transportation District (RVTD) has an immediate opening for a full-time TDM Planner. Job Description: Conducts professional transportation planning work in accordance with the goals and requirements of the District, including employer trip-reduction programs, rideshare coordination and TDM planning in collaboration with regional governments. Under general direction of the Senior Planner, employee will work closely with the District’s Planning, Marketing, and Administrative staff, reporting on activities and progress. Job Title: Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Planner
Department: Support Services
Reports To: Senior Planner
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY
Under general direction of the Senior Planner, conducts professional transportation planning work in accordance with the goals and requirements of the District, including employer tripreduction programs, rideshare coordination and TDM planning in collaboration with regional governments. Employee will work closely with the District’s Planning, Marketing, and Administrative staff, reporting on activities and progress.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as necessary.)
· Designs, performs and facilitates a variety of District and regional transportation planning and transportation demand management processes to meet the transportation goals of the District and the transportation requirements of the State and region.
· Writes, designs, modifies and enhances various documents (including web pages) using graphic, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and other software applications.
· Meets with citizens, interest groups, employers, agency representatives, and public officials to further the District's transportation demand management goals.
· Participates in the analysis and development of policies, procedures and departmental budgets relating to transportation demand management and planning.
· Prepares complex planning documents for distribution by the District to various agencies and organizations.
· Provides direction and supportive data to other District departments as needed.
· Plans and implements sales and marketing campaigns to achieve District TDM goals.
· Travels to work sites, meetings, conferences and training sessions, as needed or required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises contractors including assigning and directing work, appraising performance,
addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Provides oversight to the TDM Coordinator staff
position responsible for tasks related to education, public outreach and event coordination.
QUALIFICATIONS

Post-Secondary Education from a college or university; or two to four years directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Spanish fluency is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Familiarity with email, editing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet software applications.
Familiarity with web design, graphic design and databases, are all pluses.
WRITING SKILLS
Ability to write technical reports, narratives and speeches. Familiarity with marketing and various media such as Television and Radio is a plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid and current driver's license.
