PROJECT SCOPE:   

RVTD has been awarded Congestion Mitigation Air Quality funds through the Rogue Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization in the amount of $983,052 to be used for expanding transit service in the evening during weekdays and adding Saturday service. The expanded service is estimated to cost $2,077,800 over a three year period. This is the time period RVTD is committed to provide this service. RVTD is providing the required 10.27% local match of $100,959. Operating grants, passenger fares and revenue carryover will provide the remaining balance of $993,789. The expansion is being included in the 2012-2015 FY budgets and will be continued if RVTD considers it financially feasible. Costs have been minimized by utilizing the existing fleet and support staff- only vehicle operators will be hired at this time.

PURPOSE OF PROPOSAL:

Evening and Saturday service was prioritized by the community and adopted in the RVTD 10-Year Plan and Strategic Business and Operating Plan. This 2012-2015 proposed service will enable RVTD to maintain costs during this trial period and is less than what is identified in the 10-Year Plan. The schedule below is what is being proposed to begin April 2, 2012 and may be revised upon direction by the RVTD Board of Directors.
