Staying Active During the Winter Months
Itching to do something outside? Here are some ideas for fun outside activities. Dress warm and go get some fresh air and exercise. Have fun!!
- Take a walk, look for animal tracks and collect pinecones for decorations, fire starters, wreaths or to identify
- Take a ride on public transport and enjoy a walk before riding home again
- Plan a moonlight adventure with your family: hiking, walking or biking
- Ride your bike, scooter or skateboard
- Take a nature hike and see how many shades of green (or brown) you can count
- Bird watch, create a list of birds in your neighborhood and/or put up a bird feeder
- Take photos of trees and winter plants in your yard, neighborhood and/or local park and use them to create an identification book
- Organize a neighborhood scavenger hunt that includes outdoor locations or coordinate a neighborhood game of capture the flag at your local park
- Play chase, tag, or, hide and seek
- Skip stones across a pond or lake
